Abhijeet Sinha played for U.P Under-19 and Central Zone Under-19 teams from 1975 to 1977. He was also selected for India Under-19 Camp in the 1976-77 season. He was a prominent fast medium bowler during his Under-19 days.

In 1978-79, he went to West Bengal to play professional 'A' division League Cricket for MOHAMMEDAN Sporting Club. He was one of the leading batsmen for his club and was later picked for the Bengal State Team Camp for Wills trophy in 1979 as a batsman. In 1980, he returned to U.P. and was selected for the U.P Junior Ranji trophy team as a batsman.

Abhijeet Sinha played, from 1980 to 1981, for U.P in C.K. Naidu Under-22 and Central Zone teams. He was U.P's leading batsman for many years till 1988, having scored more than 25 centuries in various All India, State and Local senior league tournaments. In 1995, he opened Uttar Pradesh's first Professional Cricket Academy which, till date, is one of the leading sporting beacons of U.P, having produced more than sixty players who have played in several B.C.C.I trophies in the last 22 years. The success story continues.
